# File Upload and Export Formats
## Prepare contact files for upload and understand the file format used for exports.
### Supported upload formats
Use Microsoft Excel© files in **.xlsx** or **.xls** format for contact-list uploads, campaign uploads, and list updates.
### Prepare your file
- Place each recipient mobile number in the first column, Column A.
- Use full international-format mobile numbers, for example `353861111111` or `00353861111111`.
- Do not leave blank rows between records.
- Do not use formulas in uploaded cells.
- Put any additional contact information in later columns.
### Use column headers for Smart Tags
For a personalised campaign, put the column names in the first row and choose the option to import column names when you upload the file. Smart Tags use those column headers to insert the matching value for each recipient.
### Exports
List exports and Quick Export downloads from reports are delivered as Microsoft Excel© **.xls** files.
