# Blocklist (Do Not Contact)
## The Blocklist — shown as the Do Not Contact list in the web interface — stores numbers and email addresses that have opted out. Every outbound message is checked against it, helping you stay compliant with GDPR and keep your WhatsApp quality high.
The Blocklist — shown as the **Do Not Contact list** in the web interface — stores numbers and email addresses that have opted out. Every outbound message is checked against it, helping you stay compliant with GDPR and keep your WhatsApp quality high.
**Automatic**Keyword (e.g. STOP), opt-out link and journey events.
**Live blocking**Messages to opted-out contacts are not sent.
**Campaign tracking**See which campaigns trigger unsubscribes.
**API**Add, remove and query entries programmatically.
## Ways contacts are added
| Method | How |
| --- | --- |
| Inbound keyword | Configure a keyword such as STOP on your number with the action *Add to Blocklist* (for all senders or this sender only). Optionally a keyword such as START to resubscribe. |
| URL opt-out | An unsubscribe link in the message — useful for one-way senders. Ask Phonovation to enable it. |
| Journey event | Use the *Add to Do Not Contact list* element in a journey. |
| Manual | Customer Profiles › Do Not Contact list. |
| API | Create, delete and list entries; subscribe to BLOCK/UNBLOCK events. |
## Supported channels
SMS, WhatsApp, email, MMS, RCS and Viber.
ImportantMessages to blocklisted contacts are rejected with an "unsubscribed" error code. Review these regularly so your CRM reflects customers' choices.
Phonovation tipFor WhatsApp marketing, add a quick-reply button such as "Stop promotions" and route it to the Blocklist. Easy opt-outs reduce blocks and reports — the main driver of a low quality rating.
