# Number Risk Score
## Number Risk Score returns a risk level for a phone number based on behavioural signals, number metadata and recent history — helping you decide whether to approve, add verification or block an interaction.
Number Risk Score returns a risk level for a phone number based on behavioural signals, number metadata and recent history — helping you decide whether to approve, add verification or block an interaction.
**Risk level**LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH or UNKNOWN.
**Signals**Tenure, carrier, porting, line type, velocity, trust and bot-like behaviour.
**90-day window**Analysis covers recent activity only.
**Consent first**Explicit end-user consent is required for every call.
ImportantNumber Risk Score is offered as an **Early Access** capability. Availability, scope and pricing are agreed case by case — speak to your Phonovation account manager before planning a production rollout.
## Fraud it helps detect
- **Synthetic identities** — numbers with no legitimate history
- **Account takeover** — sudden behaviour changes, SIM-swap patterns
- **Referral and promo abuse** — bulk registrations
- **Credit risk** — supporting lending and buy-now-pay-later decisions
## Flow
1. Capture the number and the user's explicit consent.
2. Send the number to the API.
3. Receive the risk level and signal details.
4. Apply your policy: approve, step up (e.g. OTP or Mobile Identity) or block.
ImportantNumber Risk Score processes phone-number metadata, not message content, but it is still personal data. Record consent, update your privacy notice and complete a DPIA before use.
