# People — customer data platform
## People is the classic customer data platform. It keeps customer profiles, attributes, events, tags and segments in one place and makes them available to Moments, Answers and Conversations.
People is the classic customer data platform. It keeps customer profiles, attributes, events, tags and segments in one place and makes them available to Moments, Answers and Conversations.
**Sync**File upload, API, web and mobile SDKs.
**Segments**Target by attributes and behaviour.
**De-duplication**Profiles merged automatically by contact details.
**Do Not Contact**Manage opt-outs centrally.
Classic productThis product belongs to the classic Customer Engagement suite. New projects should normally use [Customer Profiles](https://knowledgebase.phonovation.com/messaging-whatsapp/phono-msg-customer-profiles?hsLang=en) in AgentOS, which provides the same capability with deeper AI and analytics integration. Existing set-ups continue to be supported — talk to us before migrating.
