# Resources and numbers
## Resources are the sender identities your customers see: phone numbers, alphanumeric sender IDs, email domains and channel senders such as WhatsApp. Every outbound message leaves from a resource and every inbound message arrives on one.
Resources are the sender identities your customers see: phone numbers, alphanumeric sender IDs, email domains and channel senders such as WhatsApp. Every outbound message leaves from a resource and every inbound message arrives on one.
A WhatsApp business username can make a sender easier to find, but it does not replace or hide the business phone number. Availability is controlled by Meta and can vary by region.
**Numbers**Long numbers, short codes and toll-free — two-way, SMS/Voice/WhatsApp.
**Alphanumeric**Branded names (3–11 characters) for one-way SMS.
**Channel senders**WhatsApp, RCS, Viber and other digital senders.
**Inbound routing**Keywords and default actions per number.
## Resource types

NoteOne phone number can serve SMS, Voice and WhatsApp at the same time. For Irish traffic, Phonovation can advise on the current ComReg Sender ID requirements for alphanumeric senders.
## How a request is processed
1. **Gather requirements** — the form shows what is needed for your resource and country.
2. **Submit** through the web interface or API.
3. **Feedback** — automatic validation, then review.
4. **Respond** to any "Action required" items.
5. **Processing** — registration with carriers and routing.
6. **Complete** — ready to use. Track everything under **Channels and numbers › My requests**.
## Manage numbers
- View all numbers, capabilities and monthly fees under **Numbers › My numbers**.
- Configure per-channel settings and link an application/entity for reporting.
- Set **inbound routing**: a default action plus keyword overrides (e.g. STOP → Blocklist).
- Forwarding options include webhook subscription, HTTP, email, SMPP, pull, Inbox or auto-response.
